Welcome to the Union Stitch + Design Blog!

Hi, hello, and welcome to the very first blog post on the brand spanking new Union Stitch + Design blog!

In case we haven't already met, my name is Melissa. I'm the founder, owner, and designer of Union Stitch + Design. We’re an independent sewing company with hospitality roots based out of Denver, Colorado, creating custom handmade textiles for restaurants, bars, and home cooks.

This whole thing started over a glass of wine with my longtime friend, Chef Jen Jasinski of Crafted Concepts. She needed some new aprons, I was able and ready to create customized ones for her and her staff, and, well, as they say - the rest is history.

Now, we have - and continue - to make unique aprons worn by chefs, bartenders, and service staff for numerous of local and national establishments - and we’re just getting started.

Continue to stay tuned for more blog posts as I share more of my (and Union Stitch’s!) story, provide some behind-the-scenes details, and highlight some of my favorite work and wonderful clients.

I'll also be popping up each month to share a few of the things I've been loving lately, just to keep things fun and not *necessarily* always apron related around here. See below for the first 'edition' - and happy clicking!

I can't wait to see where this blog goes, and please know how much I appreciate you being here (and, reading this post)!

THINGS I'M LOVING THIS MONTH

OBAMA'S SUMMER 2021 PLAYLIST | This has - and will be - on repeat all summer long. Thanks, Barry!

DOLAN GEIMAN | I'm obsessed with this local Colorado artist's work. I just got one of his prints and I cannot wait to hang it up in my home.

LITTLE SPICE JAR BLOG |  While there are many food blogs that I like, I keep coming back to the Little Spice Jar blog. I've enjoyed all the recipes I've made from her site and haven't made one I don't like. Next up on my to-cook list: Banana Coconut Pancakes.

GORDO CRUNCHES | Two of my favorite spots in Denver are Señor Bear and Mister Oso, not just for the great drinks, good food, and buzzy vibes - but also (and mostly) for their Gordo Crunches. Only available during happy hour, these taco treats are a grown up version of a Taco Bell's Cheesy Gordita Crunch, and I honestly can't have enough.
